Student Attendance

Parents please continue to have your child in school every day possible and please send in those parent and doctor notes to have days excused if they do miss. The State has put in some pretty strict attendance guidelines we have to follow. Any student who misses more than 10% or more than 18 days per year (excused or unexcused) is considered chronically absent. Notification letters will be sent to parents at the end of attendance reporting periods if your child exceeds that 10% mark. If your child has missed 3 or more days already this school year, you are on the chronically absent list.

In addition to that, any student with 2 unexcused absences will receive a school notification letter. On the 3rd unexcused absence, a referral must be made to our system truancy officer and a parent meeting must be held. If unexcused absences continue the next steps are Truancy Board and then Truancy Court. Only 3 parent letters per semester can be accepted to excuse a student absence. All of us, students, parents and the school are being held much more accountable for student attendance.

We are responsible for fulfilling these new attendance requirements and are working with our truancy officer to make the process work for all of us. Good attendance is very important, so please do your best to have good attendance.
