Over the past couple of weeks, EastView students and families were given the opportunity to donate to the local efforts to establish an Isaiah 117 House for the children of Greeneville and Greene County. Most of you have probably heard about it but for those who haven’t, this house would be a temporary “safe haven” for children taken into state custody and removed from their homes. This often occurs late in the night and sometimes the children have nothing more than the clothes they are wearing. Efforts are underway locally to secure funding/staff to make an Isaiah House a reality for the children of Greene County…giving them somewhere safe to go until family or foster care can take them. Many of our students and families have made donations. On Friday, March 15th , all students enjoyed “popcorn Friday” to celebrate the successful start to our fundraiser. On Tuesday, the entire EastView staff participated in a potluck luncheon and gave donations for Isaiah 117 House. Our student/family donations were $1507.28 and our staff luncheon raised $570 for a grand total of $2077.28. These funds will be donated to the Isaiah 117 House project. The top classroom for donations was Mr. McCall’s 2nd grade with $243.40! They were rewarded with an ice cream party on Thursday. A BIG THANK YOU to everyone who donated to this very worthwhile fundraising project! Please feel free to contact the school if you have any questions.
